Day 1 Arrival in Arusha
Day 1 Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be met by your driver who will be waiting for you upon arrival. You will drive to your accommodation in Arusha, and on a clear day, you may have views of Kilimanjaro en route. After a long day travelling, you may want to rest, but if you want to keep yourself busy until the evening, we can arrange a city tour or other experiences dependent on your interests.

Day 2 Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will meet an office representative for a briefing about your safari, then take a 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Along the way, you will take in the scenic views of the grassland plains speckled with ancient baobab trees, traditional Maasai houses, and cattle being herded by the nomadic people. You will see all that Tarangire National Park is known for. See its famous ancient baobab trees, tree-climbing pythons, and the largest concentration of African elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs. After a picnic lunch in midday, you will resume your afternoon game drive then drive to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 Karatu to Serengeti National Park
Day 3 Karatu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will travel via the cooler highlands towards the southern Serengeti and at midday you will reach the plains of the Serengeti National Park. This park is the largest in Tanzania and has a diversity of habitats and landscapes, short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps and lakes. Bizarre rock formations called kopjes dot the grassy landscape where predators are often seen. The Serengeti is famous for its yearly migration when hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras trek to find fresh grass and water. You will spend the night at the lodge inside the park.

Day 4 Full-Day Game Drive at Serengeti National Park
Day 4 Full-Day Game Drive at Serengeti National Park

The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. The areas that you visit will depend on where the migrating herds are. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals and include lions, leopards (in the acacia trees) and cheetahs. During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June, they return up north. As the migration is completely dependent on the yearly rainfalls, the location of the herds may vary from year to year but your guide will know where to locate the animals and where to see them best. You will spend another night at the lodge.

Day 5 Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Day 5 Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Rise and shine! After breakfast at daybreak, you will travel back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before you drive down into the crater. The massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals ranging from the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard) to spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After an extensive game drive and a picnic for lunch, you will leave the caldera in the afternoon and return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6 Lake Manyara National Park
Day 6 Lake Manyara National Park

You'll depart from the lodge after breakfast and begin the drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The journey takes approximately two hours. The park is truly a photographer's playground and offers some of the best game viewing in the world. You can expect to see many of Africa's most well-known animals, with the tree-climbing lions a particular treat. These proud predators lounge in acacia trees practically begging to be photographed. Bird watchers will find Lake Manyara to be an absolute delight, with a huge variety of birds on display in the park. Even the novice can expect to be amazed by large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly coloured lilac-breasted roller. Later on, you will drive back to Arusha.
